Michaelle Larracuente
Board Co-Chair
Michaelle is a proud Rhode Islander! Born and raised in Providence, she is honored to be working in the city that has had such an impact on her as a person. Michaelle’s educational experiences include graduating from Classical High School Class of 2006 and Northeastern University Class of 2011.
Michaelle is passionate about helping others and giving back to her community! In high school, Michaelle became heavily involved with Youth in Action. It was there where Michaelle learned how powerful young people can be when given support and a chance. As an adult, she is honored to serve as the first alumni Chair for the organization’s Board of Directors. Michaelle has taken that love for others and made it a personal goal to continue across the globe. Her impact goes beyond the 401 area code, having traveled to over 15 countries supporting both people and animals in need.
As an educator, Michaelle is dedicated to building a love of self through finding one’s academic strengths and opportunities for continued growth and exploration. She wholeheartedly believes that all students can and will succeed, but they must believe in themselves first. After supporting young people within KIPP New Jersey, Michaelle decided it was crucial to return to her hometown of Providence. She most recently has worked for Achievement First as the founding Grade 6 Team Lead and Writing Specialist where she was fortunate to be awarded their 2019 Rhode Island’s Teacher of the Year. She would then go on to serve as Dean of Culture for two years. This fall marks 11 years in education and Michaelle plans to continue investing in her beloved city. She begins her Masters in Teaching and Learning at JWU this fall. She is excited to continue her career as the Founding Head of School for Excel Academy Charter School RI. Michaelle continues to model an urgent and unapologetic dedication to Providence and the future leaders of the community.
